Very dark night time skies are required for images of star trails, such as those seen here. Stray light from inefficient light fixtures do not provide security, they only waste energy and cause glare. The International Dark-Sky Association promotes efficient light fixture design that saves energy by directing light to the ground-not up into space. Stray light obscures the spectacular nightly star show. Check out the orginization here.
